Community Services and Employment Training Inc.
Community Services Employment Training (CSET) is the designated Community Action Agency for Tulare County, established in 1976 to combat local poverty. CSET’s mission is to inspire youth, families, and communities to achieve self-reliance through innovative pathways and collaboration. The non-profit addresses systemic economic challenges by equipping thousands of residents annually with workforce training, housing stability programs, and essential safety-net resources. Central to its innovative pathways is its premier social enterprise, the Sequoia Community Corps (SCC). This initiative functions as both a vocational training ground and a public service provider. Through the SCC, young adults gain paid, hands-on experience while offering fee-for-service contracts to local governments and businesses. The social enterprise operates across two main divisions:•Public Works and Construction: Corpsmembers construct affordable housing, develop neighborhood parks, and provide home weatherization services. •Environmental Conservation: The team manages commercial recycling programs, processes e-waste and tires, plants urban forestry, and maintains natural resource conservation areas. By merging community-funded services with workforce development, CSET’s social enterprise creates a self-sustaining cycle that builds local infrastructure while preparing the county’s future workforc
